Downhere

Saturday night, I had the opportunity to see the band Downhere at a free concert at a local church. Unlike artists like Chris Tomlin and Casting Crowns, Downhere tends to fly slightly below the "popular" radar and most listeners only know them for their singles "A Better Way" and "Here I Am". This is a real shame, because I find them to be one of the freshest and most satisfying Christian bands out there. From their mature and thought-provoking lyrics to Marc Martel's unique vocal style, their music makes for great listening. They really delve deeply into themes and ideas that most Christian artists barely scratch the surface on and they do so in a very artistic way. If you've never listened to these guys, please give their albums Wide Eyed and Mystified and Ending is Beginning a try. In the meantime, here is the band performing one of their songs live on a radio station. It's called "How Many Kings" and it was one of my favorites from the concert. Enjoy!

Yeah, downhere definitely deserves more cred. Sometime on YouTube you need to look up "Marc Martel Bohemian Rhapsody". If you're familiar with the Queen song Bohemian Rhapsody, this version is a real treat. I couldn't get enough of it. Marc already sounds like Freddie, and he's probably my favorite vocalist. His version is electrifying IMO. :)

Also, what did you think of my essay? I need some help revising it, mainly the content.

Oh, and my interview went well this morning. Here's hoping I get an on-site interview. ;)

Marc Martel is very talented. He has a great voice range also. One thing I noticed about their music is that some of the piano sounds like Billy Joel. How Many Kings? is a beautiful song, too (the acoustics are great). I really like their EIB album, but WEAM is still my favorite. I wish that Downhere was played more on the radio.
